In their article A survey on the performance and status of disseminated elite N’Dama cattle breeding bulls at the Multiplier tier of an Open Nucleus Breeding Scheme in The Gambia for the period 2011–2019, authors Arss Secka et. al report on a survey conducted in 2020 with 33 farmers in 5 regions of The Gambia who received 52 elite N’Dama breeding bulls from the West Africa Livestock Innovation Centre (WALIC) Nucleus tier. The WALIC genetic improvement programme aimed at increasing the growth rate and milk yield of indigenous N’Dama cattle without losing their trypanotolerance and other adaptive traits.
