International Congress on Cattle and Pigs - Scientist Creates Future - postponed until 2021

Posted on 2020-03-12

The International Congress on the Breeding of Cattle and Pigs has been postponed.

The development and dimension of the Corona pandemic have differed and are still very different around the world. Germany’s Heads of Government (at federal and Länder level) recently agreed a ban on large events which will remain in force until 31 August. Due to the dynamic development, it is, at present, impossible to foresee what the situation will be like in September, either in Germany or in countries on other continents. It is therefore necessary to postpone the International Congress on the Breeding of Cattle and Pigs.
An alternative date still needs to be decided on.

The aim of this congress is to deepen cooperation between cattle and pig farmers worldwide and to discuss the most recent scientific findings in this area. Rescheduling the Congress to a later date will also open up the possibility for an exchange of views on the experiences gathered from and effects produced by the Corona pandemic.

Genetic Resources will continue to support the International Congress on Cattle and Pig, publishing abstracts accepted for presentation at the congress in a special issue of Genetic Resources in 2021.
